Inspectorate of Factories & Shops
The Inspectorate of Factories is head
by the Chief Inspector of Factories with different
inspecting officers working in the district offices.
The Inspectors of Factories are required
to keep watch with regard to the guaranteed rights
of the workers under the aforesaid labour laws, make
periodical inspections and submit challans to the
courts of law on detection of violations/try to remove
irregularities through prosecutions.
The Chief Inspector of Factories also
heads the Inspectorate of Shops as Chief Inspector
of Shops for enforcement of the Shops & Establishment
Ordinance, 1969 which regulates terms and conditions
of service of employees in shops and commercial establishments.
The important functions of the labour Inspectors are
implementation of labour rights such as observance
of weekly holidays, payment of wages and other benefits
payable to the shops' employees under the Ordinance.
They are responsible for registration of shops and
establishments under the Ordinance.
Labour Inspectors also realize registration
and renewal fee at the prescribed rates from the shopkeepers
under the Shops & Establishment Ordinance which
form a part of the government revenue.
