Achievements
Registration of 106 Colleges, 08 Universities and
three campuses in Private Sector.
To check quality of Education in Private Colleges/Universities
more than 300 inspections/visits have been carried
out so far.
Rules and Regulations in line with the guidelines
of HEC and in accordance with the Ordinance have been
framed and approved by the Govt. of NWFP.
A Surveillance Committee has been constituted to
carry out periodic visitations and inspections for
monitoring the performance of various institutes/colleges
established in private sector and registered with
HERA in order to ensure the standard/quality of their
academic programs.
Appointment of a Part Time Legal Advisor for handling
the Legal Affairs of the Authority.
The Authorities of local government requested to
indicate un-registered colleges/institutes in their
jurisdiction and help in streamlining and registering
these institutes.
Public Awareness Notices and PARENT ALERT LIST
in this regard have also been published in various
dailies.
Recently the Aryana University, Peshawar and its
sub-campus, Mardan Medical College at Mardan functioning
unlawfully in private sector of NWFP has been declared
illegal and unlawful and directed to windup its operation
and close down its activities.
Three colleges/institutes have been de-registered
due to non-compliance of rules and regulations of
HERA and concerned universities.
HERA played an important and effective role in
the up gradation of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar
and Islamia College to the status of University in
collaboration with HEC, Islamabad and Govt. of NWFP,
Peshawar.
Establishment of ABASYN University in the private
sector of NWFP.
Establishment of Peshawar Medical College in the
private sector on most modern lines duly approved/recognized
by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, Islamabad.
The Authority as a result of untiring in-depth
deliberations and persuasions with Higher Education
Commission has succeeded to manage and obtain approval
of HEC for providing one time grant-in-aid to the
tune of Rs. 25 Million for HERA’s capacity building.
