The main function
of HERA is to streamline, supervise and regulate the
functioning of Institutes/colleges established or to
be established in the private sector imparting higher
education.
Registration of all private sector colleges/institutes
with HERA PRIOR to affiliation with public sector universities
is MANDATORY under the HERA'S ORDINANCE.
HERA through its scrutiny committee ensures:
- That the site selected for the institute/college
is suitable from academic point of view and viable
having all the infrastructural requirements.
- That the Institute/College to be registered is
financially stable and has the ability to sustain
a regular functioning on a long term basis.
- That the financial resources of the institutions/colleges
are sufficient to enable it to make due provision
for its continued maintenance and efficient working.
- That the institute/college has the ability and
capacity to run the intended academic programs.
- That an appropriate regulatory framework and mechanism
is provided for regulating academic and administrative
matters of the institute/college.
- That the strength and qualification of the academic
and administrative staff and the terms and conditions
of their service are adequate.
- That at least 10% of students are granted fee exemption
& scholarship on need/merit basis.
