To be declared / established by the Govt: (Women’s Prisons, Open Prisons, Borstal Institutions).

District Prisons

All Prisons other than Central

Prisons or Special Prisons.

1st Class……For 500 or more prisoners, Sentences upto 5 years.
2nd Class……For more than 300 but less than 500 prisoners. Sentences upto 3 Years.
3rd Class……For less than 300 prisoners. Sentences upto 1 year.
