Shandur Polo, a historic polo festival will be held with traditional fervor from 07 to 09th of July 2012. Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gillani will be invited to be the chief guest on this occasion. The decision to this effect was taken in a high level meeting held Friday in Peshawar with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah in the chair. The meeting reviewed the suggestions for successful organization of the event.

          Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Salim Khan, Secretary Tourism and Sports, Syed Jamaluddin, DCO Chitral and a large number of concerned officers were also present on this occasion. The meeting reviewed the improvement of infrastructure from Chitral to Shundur, provision of facilities to the tourists and entertainment programme etc. The meeting also decided to form committees for boarding and lodging.

          Addressing the meeting, Syed Aqil Shah said that polo was an event of international standard for which a large number of foreign tourists also come to the country and thus efforts should be made to make the event a success.

          Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Salim Khan said that the event would be held with enthusiasm to send a message of peace to the world.
