Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information & Transport
Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that Turkey and Pakistan are two brethren
Islamic Countries having exemplary bilateral ties adding that it would be
strengthened with each passing day.
This he stated while holding meetings with the Deputy
Mayer of Istanbul metropolitan municipality Mr. Ahmed Salamat and other
heads of different institutions and departments during his official visit to
Turkey. He was also accompanied by the Commissioner Peshawar Division Tariq
Jamil. Secretary Transport Sikander Qayyum and Director General PDA Qazi Liaq
Ahmed.
The Minister also met the Director General Transport
of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Dr. Hayri Baracli where he was briefed in
detail about the Tram Train, Metro Service and Rapid Bus service. The Minister
also traveled by train, bus and Metro Service to practically review the
transport services and system of Istanbul.
Mian Iftikhar also visited the Solid Waste Collection
Point and Sewerage Water Treatment Plant. He was told that 17 MW
electricity was being produced from the solid waste while sewerage water was being
cleaned before its release to river to stop rivers water pollution. Similarly
the minister went to the Faith University, Samanyolu Media group TV
Station and bus terminal where he was briefed by the respective heads. They
offered cooperation to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in their respective
fields.
Welcoming the offers, the Information Minister maintained
that the rapid development of Turkey was a role model for all particularly the
Muslim Ummah. He added, it was the need of the hour to follow the Turkey like
developed and liberal countries for getting a respectable place in the comity
of nations. He furthered that he had found Turkey more developed, more liberal
and more beautiful than he had though of. He continued that it was his
utmost desire to have a developed Pakistan like Turkey on the global map.
Mian Iftikhar on this occasion besides discussing other
projects of different sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also discussed the proposed
Mass Transit Plan with the authorities concerned in detail and express
the desire of Turkey support in this respect. The Turkish authorities assured
all out support in this regard and accepted the invitation of the
minister to visit Peshawar.
